What Amenities Are Most Important to Guests Staying in an Airbnb?

According to a recent study by Airbnb, there are certain things that people are looking for when they’re searching for their ideal place to stay.

In fact, 97% of people said that their travel experience is impacted by the amenities on offer. For many travellers, amenities were a top priority, dominating other things like location, culture, shopping and dining and family/friends.

So which amenities are valued most? And how can you make sure your Airbnb is picked over all others?

It’s All About the Functionality

When considering amenities, the study found that travellers are looking for functionality in their Airbnb space. This includes things like wine glasses or a coffee maker (US, Chinese and Australian customers found these most important).

Thoughtfulness also came a close second when it came to amenities. Things like a bicycle, a bottle of wine or a pre-packed beach bag were much appreciated by the guests.

Therefore, it’s important to consider how you can add these functional yet thoughtful features. From a hamper for a picnic at the local park to the perfect lighting to read by the fire (find some great styles here), there are so many ways you can introduce these functional and thoughtful additions to your Airbnb.

It’s More Important to Be Comfortable than Connected

Despite the fact we’re living in an increasingly connected world, travellers don’t seem to value connectivity as high as comfort. The majority are looking for key amenities that will help make their stay comfortable.

For example, nearly 60% of American travellers value air conditioning as the most important amenity – over full kitchens and the internet.

It’s Crucial to Have Some Additional Perks

As well as those all-important essentials, travellers are also looking for something else that makes your Airbnb stand out from the crowd.

For example, a beautiful pool really helps seal the deal, while parking and pets will also see your premises rising to the top.

Nevertheless, despite many countries selecting a pool as their top additional amenity, it appears as though Canadian, Australian and American travellers see free parking as more important. Plus, don’t miss out pet-lovers, as 29% see pet-friendly places as their number one priority.

Making Your Airbnb Stand Out from the Crowd

Obviously, not all of the aforementioned amenities may be relevant to your Airbnb, but it’s imperative you are adding some of them to your property’s key features. And one of the best ways to see how functional your place is as an Airbnb is to holiday there like a guest.

Book yourself in for the weekend, pack a bag and try to look through a visitor’s eyes. What would you want to see? How could the trip be made even more special?

By doing this and paying attention to those key amenities, you should soon be enjoying rave reviews and further bookings.
