My Mini European June Adventure: From London to Switzerland to Spain – The Itinerary

You can tell the Summer has finally arrived when you’re sunburnt almost every weekend from too many glasses of wine on the terrace, absolutely no one is sitting inside restaurants and public transport feels like a dry sauna. Personally I’m overjoyed we’ve so far had a good start (as far as British weather goes) to the Summer here in London. It’s a completely different place when the sun comes out and generally everyone is that little bit happier. But it’s about to get a lot hotter for me shortly. 41 degrees to be precise.

Hotel Schweizerhof Bern – Switzerland

I’m spending 10 days travelling towards the end of June and I can’t tell you how excited I am! It’s not exactly the longest trip, but what was supposed to be just 2 nights I’ve somehow managed to turn into a lot longer, naughtily booking flights behind the other halfs back – meaning there simply was no choice! First up on our trip is the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern in the capital of Switzerland. If you’re thinking Zurich, you’re wrong as the capital is in fact a place called Bern. I can’t wait for the train journey through the Swiss countryside to the hotel, enjoying the hotels fabulous and award-winning spa and my favourite part – the terrace! Spending two days here I plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel and exploring the local area.

Villa Jerez, Jerez de la Frontera – Spain

After a short time in Switzerland, we’re hopping on a plane to the south of Spain to a place called Jerez de la Frontera. It may as well be my second home as I visit many times in a year, in fact just recently. Towards the end of June it will without a doubt be a soaring 40+ degrees every day and I’ll look like a lobster, but hopefully the hotel pools will assist in cooling me. Staying in the centre of town for our arrival night, the following day we’ll be checking into five-star Villa Jerez. I’m really excited to be experiencing a little luxury in Jerez as it’s not something I’ve done here yet and the hotel really looks magnificent. The relaxing looking pool will be perfect for sipping a glass of sherry and pristine bedrooms to enjoy for an afternoon siesta. Actually finding the right kind of property in Jerez can sometimes be a hard task and for those looking for something traditional then I highly recommend using Hundredrooms. It’s a fantastic little site for holiday rentals and my friend actually just booked one of the properties next week in Jerez. Now I’m wishing I could stay for an extra couple of days!

Barceló Montecastillo Golf Hotel, Jerez de la Frontera – Spain

Not the last hotel of our journey as we’ll be moving on yet again to a small boutique hotel in the centre of town, but before that we’ll be checking into the fiver star Barceló Montecastillo Golf Hotel which is just a short drive from the centre of Jerez de la Frontera. Nestled away in the Andalusian countryside I can’t wait to bask in the hotel pool, enjoy many games of golf and explore its food offering. It will nice to stay outside of the city for a couple of days too and simply just relax and turn off social media, OK maybe not the latter. Breakfast on the terrace looks rather legendary too.

I really can’t wait for my trip to Switzerland and Spain towards the end of the month and I hope you can follow my journey on social media.

Where are you off to next? I’d love to know!
