The Dish of the Month at 108 Brasserie, Marylebone, London

108 Brasserie

Marylebone has over the past couple of years turned into one of the city’s best places to eat. Only a few years ago the high street was a place for your daily shopping needs, but now it’s completely changed and become to go-to place for foodies on the hunt for some seriously good food, with one road in particularly leading the way, Marylebone Lane – home to the fabulous 108 Brasserie. A restaurant I’ve visited before and love. Inside it’s decked out with an all day brasserie feel, yet oozes class and a little bit of luxury. Rich red leather coloured chairs, sultry lighting and exquisite service to match. We made our way down during the week to check out the restaurants newest addition – a monthly “Dish of the Month” created by Executive Chef Russell Ford.

February’s previous offer was a gargantuan whole roasted turbot for two, served with trumpet mushrooms, baby onions, spinach gratin, and potato mousseline, but March brought one of my favourites to the menu – a roast rack & slow-cooked neck of Devon lamb, served with a gorgeous selection of spring vegetables priced at just £20pp. It’s the perfect dish to be enjoyed during the start of Spring. The lamb chops themselves were heavenly. Perfectly cooked beauties which cut through like butter and seasoned incredibly well. The neck, hidden behind the rack was falling apart at the touch of my fork and all the vegetables were cooked to a perfect crunch. The white asparagus was particularly delicious and bang on season.

We paired our lamb with a fruity glass of Shiraz recommended by our waiter, along with some of the restaurants legendary bread, creamy mash potato and a rich & very cheesy cauliflower cheese. If you’re looking for a lamb fix this spring then head down to 108 Brasserie whatever the occasion, dish of the month of if you simply want to dine off the a la carte. The only question I have now is – what will April’s dish of the month reveal to be? More lamb hopefully!

UPDATE: April’s dish of the month has been announced and it looks delicious – with Russell’s take on a classic dessert: Yorkshire Rhubarb and Custard.
