Michelin Guide 2016 Great Britain & Ireland – The Results

Michelin Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2016 has awarded 15 new one stars and two new two stars this year throughout the UK

It’s that time again, although a day earlier in this case thanks to a book store in the UK leaking the results – well done. This year London restaurants have gained hold of four shiny new stars, a considerably lower number than in the last few years within the city. The rest of the UK had some very nice surprises, with restaurants such as The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds and The Cellar in Scotland – both of which have very good reputations. Most Michelin star predictions for 2016 were again very wrong – especially in London. London has added two new two Michelin star restaurants to its dining scene with UMU and The Araki – the latter being very new. There were no new three Michelin stars awarded this year.

“The next generation of chefs are really coming through to give the established chefs a run for their money. They all have their own individual style and their ability – coupled with their confidence – looks set to lead them on to great things”, commented Rebecca Burr – Editor of the UK guide
